Broken
After all these years being away & working on me,
Today I couldn’t deal nor could I breathe.
After all the progress and steps forward I’ve made,
Today I took 25 steps back, in my truck I laid.
I never thought I’d be that weak,
I cried so hard I couldn’t speak.
Couldn’t speak to ask for help or someone to say no,
Not quite sure who’d I ask anyways, all I have are foes.
Once it hit me, it didn’t take long,
I knew it was a mistake and I knew it was wrong.
I was no longer thinking of what happened that day,
I was all over the place, a bed I could not lay.
There’s nothing like that feeling you get the first time,
But my daughter’s look of disappointment is still etched in my mind.
She saved me more times than I can say,
But no one could have saved me today.
For my spirit was again broken, I hit an all time low,
There’s no more mending or putting it all back where it goes.
I’ll continue to build my walls back up & never let anyone in,
I’ll be damned if I set myself up for failure over & over again.
