Broken Boy

Broken boy

who revels in pain

lives a life

where only pieces remain

Fragments of what he was

of all he was meant to be,

hurting inside

but smiling so no one would see

Broken boy

who came to my arms

asked to be healed

and promised no harm

Said you just got lost

that all the right directions

lead you wrong

that you hadn’t found help

until I’d come along

Broken boy

reaching for my hand

holding onto me

using me to stand

Broken boy

filled with hopes and dreams

who would’ve thought

you’d be the one breaking me.
