Broken Butterflies

Go to sleep, close your eyes,

And dream of broken butterflies,

That tore their wings upon a thorn,

You know that pain

that they’ve endured.

The tearing of their wings,

So much like the tearing of your skin.

Silver metal shine so bright,

Scarlet blood that feels so right,

Dream of blood trickling down,

Down and down again.

A river flowing red

Just for you

Dream of the blood,

Oh the scarlet blood.

And wake up just before you drown.

Scream in denial,

That this was just a dream.

Hush,

Go back to sleep.

Dream of those butterflies

Those beautiful, broken,

torn up butterflies.

Dream of their wings,

Torn upon a thorn

Yet they keep pushing

pushing on

Wake up crying

Realizing that,

if they can keep

pushing on,

then so can you.

So dream,

dream of those

strong butterflies.

Aim to be like

them someday.

Dream.
