Broken Children
You know love is lost when it only brings pain
When children are told not to abstain
When kisses mean nothing and flowers are dead
Unless they're petals that lead to a bed;
But that's not love, it's a mask over lust
That they should not know 'til sand turns to dust.
Children forget to play in the trees
All they know are birds and the bees.
They shouldn't be taught, they should live to know,
But first their hearts have to learn to grow--
Still they love without using their heart
Leaving the children broken apart.
