Broken But Complete

With a single glance the sun is shining in her eyes as she laughs so carelessly,

but upon closer inspection you notice that the sun doesn't quite reach her eyes

and her laughs are forced.

Her mind is filled with hate for herself,

it's a dark place to linger for too long but she’s lingered there for years.

She wakes gasping for breath that seems to have failed her once again.

Her sight filled with things that are no longer there,

memories from the past that she can't quite shake.

She enjoys the feeling of metal on skin,

the slight sting it leaves after.

She imagines the little drops of blood are her demons seeping out

Sighing in relief.

Nobody quite understands

constantly putting on a show for friends and family.

That the only thing that can truly bring happiness is kept a secret.

The love of her life isn't exactly accepted by her family,

constantly lying just to be happy.

fighting this depression for four years and it's finally taking its toll.

Losing this battle.

Only hanging on by the light of his love.

Broken.

Abandoned.

Lost.

Angry.

Found.

Loved.

Dropped.

And loved again.

This is me.

Broken but complete.
