The Broken Dove

I stare as a dove rest on a ledge,
It’s wings tattered, seemingly broken and dry.
A dove which in the distance reminds me of diamonds.
Will this dove bid adieu, or is it anchored too?
As it tries to fly, it says goodbye, to I who watched it before it took to the sky.
I only see it manage to fall off of the edge.

A Bellowing horn, at the dock, breaks the silence,
A silence I wish would over take my mind.
When all is made a spectacle,
A dove will bid adieu, though it is still anchored to you.
Like the steamboat who leaves the docks, but must come back through.
As had Hera, of the giants, who acknowledged the infidelity but upheld the balance.

A love that was purely chemical,
Has beaten mine which held promise.
Mine whom was promised eternity has been overlooked without care.
Like the dove who bid adieu, though I am still anchored to you.
Those promises that made my heart burn like a comet,
This relation which was held together by those promises, is now skeletal.

It is not gone though scarcely bare,
Referring to that love, of course, that was stripped of its honesty.
Now I am here pondering what of it is left.
Because the dove has bid adieu, though it is still anchored to you.
As a sense of warmth can still be felt in my body
I cannot pretend that I do not care.

Was this love not good enough, did it not pass the test?
Did it not fulfill his expectations?
Did he not still feel that spark of love?
Had the dove bid adieu, but he was still anchored too?
Was I the reason for his frustrations?
Should I be experiencing this throbbing pain in my chest?

In an instant I feel as though I am the dove, in pain.
A pain that makes it impossible to do anything again.
The pain that restricts us from any gain, just walking across a flat plane.
What has held us here is simply a chain.

That chain cannot be broken,
For it is a bond that will last ever more.
A bond that once gave me comfort now causes discord in myself.
But has the dove truly bid adieu, or is it just heavily anchored to you?
How do I know if the dove is gone for sure?
Just because it seemed so, does not mean it was broken.

Having thought for such a lengthy time, a conclusive I had put upon a shelf,
Perhaps the dove is not gone,
And it is flying low to test it’s wings.
Maybe the dove has not bid adieu and it is not only anchored to you.
But anchored to the sky through the bond.
As I realize this I think to myself:

I shall tell others of the bird who began to fly,
Though it looked as if it were sure to die.
Its wings worn and beaten, but it never said goodbye,
It just flew, because it knew what it needed to do to soar through the blue sky.

I know they will claim I am crazy,
But the sights I have seen are just.
I wish to have the courage of that of this dove.
So I will not bid adieu, not only because I am anchored to you,
This feeling inside, the feeling of love cannot be overlooked by the lack of trust.
As time goes by these thoughts will become hazy.

I thank this bird for all it has shown me.
For giving me the courage, to continue this road in search of glee.
Hera has given me hope, after hearing my plea.
In hopes that this love will grow into a grand tree.

Even though it has stunted in growth,
I will ensure in an oath,
That I will help us both,
Become more than we had ever hoped.

Because of this bird, I may break from this depression,
That has me consumed with no discretion.
I will neglect my aggression,
And commence a blissful session.

If I should find that the dove did not make it through,
Then I shall bid it adieu, but forever be anchored to,
The emotions that it provoked me to que,
To this dove wherever you may be, I owe my love to you.
