The Broken Down Frame of My Body

the broken down frame of my body

was decaying before my eyesmy lungs collapsingmy balled fists crumbling into fragments of broken boneslike a shattered stained glass window compiled of a variety of colorsthat are shades of blacks, whites, and graysmy hips decomposing and my shoulders caving inlike the curl of a six foot wave on the north shoreI could feel my lips dissolveand my jaw splinterinto minuscule shards of glassand my heartfracturing, perishing, disintegratinginto pieces so microscopic you could fit them through the eye of a needlethe broken down frame of my bodywas decaying before my eyesbut since the day I met youbushels of tiger lilies start to climb the small of my backand line my shouldersorchids are sprawling along my neckvines and stems of roses intertwine with my collarboneand the seeds of dandelions cascade through my fragile veinsthere are flowers growing under my pale skinthere is a garden blossoming inside of me; all because of youyou're like my sunmustering every pigment that once shone under my skinto gather all of my features in my cold body to recover every last bit of ‘pretty’ left in my blood
