I held my dreams inside my hands so no one else could touch
Made sure they only knew my face so no one else could judge
I fed them big and made them strong so they could face the world
Gave manners well, for show and tell so they would never curl
I taught them fight along with flight and gave them room to choose
I gave my heart and gave my life to be their running shoes
But when came the time for dreams to shine I noticed they would choke
And then I tripped on life's mischief an piece by piece dreams broke
