Broken Heart

I don't remember how it feels
To have a broken heart.
I've forgotten how long it takes to heal,
I've forgotten how hard it is to restart.

My heart hasn't been broken,
It is still safe in his hands.
But yours, although not stolen,
Was left buried in the sands.

I can feel your pain,
The aching you have inside.
The thoughts you have in your brain,
The tears you try to hide,

I hate to see you cry,
My heart aches for you.
Your tears I will always dry,
I only wish there was something I could do...

I wish there was a way to fix it,
To stop the pain we both feel,
But I'm afraid I don't know how to knit,
This wound I may not be able to heal...

I'm sorry that you hurt,
I'm sorry it's been a hard day.
Pick your heart up from the dirt,
I'll make it all okay,

I'll hold your hand,
I'll stay by your side.
You'll soon be able to stand,
Just one day at a time.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
Our world
