A Broken Love Story

The beginning of a story,

Is a hard thing to start.

If the characters aren’t strong,

The story falls apart.

Well I started a little story,

A couple years ago.

It had two great main characters,

And a really steady flow.

Man and Lady were in love,

And wanted so much to be together.

But Man had a problem when it came to time,

And Lady’s heart grew deader.

Fast forward to a couple months,

And Lady has a guy.

But she’s never truly happy with him,

And really can’t figure out why.

Soon enough Guy leaves Lady,

And Man is immediately there.

He comforts Lady constantly,

And shows her how much he cares.

But what Man doesn’t know,

Is that Lady is no longer crying over Guy.

She cries because Man is who she wants,

And it took so long to finally realize.

A year after meeting,

Man and Lady are still close.

They screw around quite literally,

But Lady is afraid and keeps her heart froze.

Then Guy Two comes along,

So Lady tries again.

She convinces herself to love him,

To try and stop her pain.

Guy Two only succeeds in ruining Lady’s heart,

And twisting her view on love.

She felt like she was on a cliff edge,

And all Guy Two did was shove.

Man thought her tears were for Guy,

But she cried her heart out for him.

Man held Lady tightly and lovingly,

Lady’s pain was in every limb.

Man continued to be oblivious to Lady’s true feelings,

While it took a long time for her to be okay.

He could only assume she was healing,

Because she held in the things she could never say.

Almost two years after meeting,

And Lady has so much hurt inside.

Her heart has cuts and scars and bruises,

From the feelings she pushed aside.

The feelings are with her every day,

After all this time has passed them by.

Lady’s heart has never been whole,

She just can’t seem to figure out why.

She’s broken, hurt, bitter, and angry,

With aches she never wanted to know.

She hides it from Man very easily,

With a mask as she puts on a show.

Lady’s tears come more often now,

And Man can’t even see.

He has no idea how close to dying,

Lady’s actually come to be.

Quickly things between Man and Lady,

Rise in passion and heat.

She’s better again with the one she loves,

Her broken heart finally has a strong beat.

Man made her feel beautiful,

And really loved for once in her dark past.

But soon Lady was in trouble,

She was falling harder and fast.

He called her baby girl,

And so many other sweet names.

He made her blush hard,

And stoked her inner flames.

But then Man tells her something,

And everything she wanted goes up in smoke.

She thought she could actually be with him,

Until the last string in her broke.

She doesn’t want to hurt him too,

So again she hides her emotions.

She pretends to forget like he asked her to,

While really she goes through the motions.

This confession is the reason that she hid her heart,

The reason she was scared.

Is Lady just supposed to give up,

And pretend she never cared?

Lady wants to tell Man,

Just how perfect he really is.

For her heart and soul,

Really has always been his.

Lady will wait for Man,

Forever if she must.

Because out of every man she’s ever known,

He’s the only one she trusts.

Her mind may still be cluttered,

With things she doesn’t know how to say.

All she can say for sure is,

That she wants him and only him every single day.
