Broken or Awoken?

We use verbs

And nouns

And crazy adjectives

To express our minds’ sounds

But what if language didn’t exist

And no one could speak

But only act?

Would life be vivid or bleak?

Would everyone care

And hug and kiss

And smile and skip

And enjoy life’s bliss?

Or would everyone

Stop and just stay inside

With millions of things to say

And in only themselves to confide.

I know voice will always be there

And language always spoken

Yet I wonder what if it wasn’t?

Would we be broken or awoken?
