Broken People
I wish to be with the broken people the get in your face challenge me people The sometimes hidden sitting in a dark corner kind of people The don't you love me I wish you'd see me sort of people People just being real people not having to have it all together people Them doing their best to figure it out people dancing and singing without the music people The strongest kind of people I don't care about their mistakes They don't need to be perfect to win, and there are people who believe perfection is the key but we're stronger than them I'll start with just listening Beyond appearance of fat or thin I only know what I know I dont know their experiences, but I know it's hard. We'll start with our broken smiles It's the best we've got It might seem like so little But I still think it's still too much for anyone who's never done it, Tears in our eyes, whispering in the mirror, "you're stronger than them" we didn't learn in school how cruel people can be, we never learned how to be happy but we taught it to ourselves anyways, wearing a smile we know is uncomfortable, but what can we do? The smile is what they expect. So forget the fake people the plastic people the all about perfect hair and clothes people The I live in the right neighborhood and drive the right car people It's all about me people, the people who care too much, never show it people those too important to talk to me people. I'm stronger than them. They don't understand that We're worth something too. I love the real people the people who don't always know how important they are, it's heartbreaking, because you want to embrace them and whisper, "you're stronger than them" Worth listening to if allowed to speak the stories they tell will make your laugh, and they'll make you cry, but emotions make you real For in the end we are all broken Disguising hurt with our joking, and our smiles So look close maybe you'll see eyes that aren't blank hearts that aren't empty Who we think of as complicated in the end are as simple as anyone else They might push when others come close but they are affectionate, Each just a bit afraid and broken broken but people who are beautiful, not only despite, but because of their scars, that which makes them real. that which speaks, not in a way that is self-centered, but reminding, not reprimanding, but explaining. not harsh, but firm, "I'm stronger than them" "I'm stronger than you" the people who say this, they are the real people. the broken people
