Broken Record

i sat and listened to your message

i cried myself to sleep

i awoke and listened to your message

and cried as I pulled myself to my feet

i walked and listened to your message

and sobbed in the car to work

i worked and replayed your message

and tears stained my shirt

i drove home and listened to your message

and cried as i closed the door

i sat and listened to your message

and cried and cried some more

i finally deleted your message

for crying would not bring you back

i stood and scraped for courage

for sobbing would not bring you back

i went to work and focused

for tears would flow no more

i drove until i resurfaced

in the life you had no more

i moved on through this world

for despair would bring no joy

i could not waste these years

for tears of a life cut short
