Broken Smile
Once there was a lonely child
Who to the world seemed rather lost
And her sole release came from
Outburst
Outburst
Little soul so full of storm
One could say a spoiled thing
Just a spark and she drove all
Away
Away
Never once used her thoughts
Never once made any sense
All her actions and words had been
Mindless
Mindless
O to discover clarity
She had refused that chance
For years with rage
Always drove them away
Memories fade away
As she bears her broken smile
Misty days though the sun is out
She cannot comprehend
Misery that she has spread
Due to her mindless games
Sanity teetering on the edge
Off the cliff within
Never understood
Always unaware
Never any good
Were the words from her broken smile
Years passed and as she grew
Her conscience soon was born
And her past bombarded her with
Cruelty
Cruelty
Gazes from the past sunk in
And clung onto her skin
And she thought the present was
Watching
Watching
Walls built to keep the beast in
Began crushing in her soul
It hurts to breath
Emotions take up space
"Take away all these feelings
They are no use to me!"
She had said with heavy heart
And then a broken smile
"If statues can survive centuries
Then I can live as stone."
And gradually her heart
Began to disappear
No more misery
Only solitude
No more worry
Of someone else's prying eyes
They were never taken away
They were locked in the depths of her heart
"Now look at what you've done, demon!"
She had shouted to no one but herself
But then a light seemed to shine for her
"What is this?" Then the fog seemed to clear away
For once she can see with some clarity
That girl
That girl
It's me
It's me
My past even now is
Forever haunting me
Disgusted as I am now
I cannot make a change
I suppose I must bear with it
All with a broken smile
Moving on is a tough process
But I will survive
This fog that gave birth to me
I swear I will escape
I once found I was growing wings
Maybe I'll learn to fly
With this clarity I've gained
I will surely make it out
And I'll continue living
Carrying this broken smile
This dull life I will brighten up
With my false laugh
Perhaps one day I will make it real
There's one way to find out
Through this cold unforgiving mist
Someone reached out to me
There are others who smile at me
I wonder hopefully
Do they not care
About who I was?
Did they see my growth?
The person I came out to be?
I will find out!
