Broken Strings

Our hearts are guitars
The strings are constantly plucked
Always being played

The music starts off soft
And builds up to the bridge
Then the chorus follows
And the cycle begins again.

Our hearts are guitars
All the strings eventually break
Always at the wrong time

It causes a lot of trouble
And they are costly to replace
But it is not impossible
And it is always worth the wait.

Our hearts are guitars
Sometimes played out of tune
But practice can make perfect

And once in a lifetime
Someone comes along
Who can play a simple tune
But turn it into a beautiful song

And you know that in their hands
Your strings will never break
But strings all get weary
No matter how gently they are played.

Our hearts are guitars
Waiting to be played
Learning a new song with each new hand

Our strings will grow tired and weak
But we will always long to be played
We will long for that music
Because we know...
Broken strings can be replaced.
