Broken System

Today is the day i realized

It's not my fault

It's not my parents fault

They were never taught

The system is broken

I go to aschool everyday for no reason

I got to school and not learn

I got to school and not see the cryptic before my eyes

People push and see potential  and leadership

But you recongnize better

You go to Internships and SGA meetings

You see the privileges others get

How your school is low on books and supplies

  I don't understand

Why and Who ca do this to children

The system is broken

My heart is broken

I try my hardest

I drive is the strongest

Long nights  and long days

180 days to prove to these people that you are worth their time

Money is everything.

Without it you are nothing

Without it

Education is nothing

Without it your 3.5 grade average isn't enough

The system is broken

What about me?

I'm top scholar but yet I'm still not good enough

I'm a black indepent young lady

Strong willed and a over-achiever

But I'm still not good enough.

It hurt me to see all my hard work swept away into the trash.

The system is broken.

They never taught me what I needed to know.

It's not my mother's fault

It's not my father's fault

The system is backwards.

Everything is to late everything is too fast

All those kids never even had a chance to see the potential

I woke up

I preach my education system is flawed

But the hands on my back

Pushing me won't let me quit, supporting me  

Is what kept me going

The system is broken

1 step foward 3 steps back

But  the hands on my back lifts my spirits up

When everything is against me

My knowledge knows no bounds

Why is my education system broken?

Because as a eople we let it be.

I made it out...

I am determined to be successful...

I am a future leader of the new generation....

Because everything broken can be fixed.
