A Broken Systen

Number two pencil

fill bubbles in completely

if you finish, wait

Standardized exams

hours, hours, of sitting

we get snacks, sometimes

New year means new tests

for "proficiency", to "gauge"

no, just for funding

the state willl decide

who gets nice new shiny things

all from colored dots

Now, we pay to test

mandantory for college

SAT, AP

prices get higher

all I get is a number

and another test

tests don't define me

they do not show who I am

or what I can do

maybe I read wrong

or filled in the wrong circle

or ran out of time

it's easy to judge

if all the tests are the same

some will be better

but is it okay

if a test means acceptance

or better funding?

A broken system

that lets students fall through cracks

it's to big to fix?
