Broken Things

Dear old friend,

Sometimes things get broken

Sometimes stories end

When things don't go the way we plan

sometimes we lose a friend

Sometimes love and laughter

turns to pain and death

And we can't see them dying

till they take their final breath

Things sometimes don't break evenly

Some pieces don't get caught

When one piece hits the ground

sometimes the other one does not

Some questions go unanswered

What could have made us fall?

Maybe sometimes things just break

for no reason all

Sometimes broken hearts are left

scarred and sad and sore

And memories just leave us cold

and break us even more

But broken things can teach us

what whole things do not know:

Sometimes things are broken up

to give them room to grow

Sometimes things get broken

Sometimes stories end

But oh how sweet when we discover

broken things can mend

I'm glad that we were broken

I didn't know it then

Some people are worth breaking for

For you I'd break again
