Broken is What I am

You hear that? The sound of something breaking.

You feel that?  The shards piercing the very flesh of your skin.

It must be my imagination.

I look to my right and there you are sound asleep.

Eyes so beautiful even when they're closed.

Can't resist myself, so I sneak a kiss upon those lips.

Praying that you won't be pissed.

Instead you wrap me in your arms,

and tell me that you're mines to keep.

I can't picture myself any where else

but here, with you, in this bed.

When you grab my face and kiss my forehead,

I can't help but flush with red.

When you start to say those three words.

My eyes fly open like wings of birds.

I look to my right,

but you had left.

That sound of something breaking had been my heart.

With the very many pieces stabbing every part.

I've never felt such pain like this.

It's funny that this is titled I am..

and all I can think about me, is you.

Because for as long as I have known,

I am... was you.

Now that you have fled,

I have this empty bed.

I am lost.

You took who I was,

and left one thing, you, just you, inside my head.

I'm sorry, I know you were expecting something about me.

But here I am.

I am... the girl that does not know who she is anymore.

Because I am the girl who opened the door,

for the love of her life to walk out of.
