Brother
Interally screaming, I see my brother take his last breath.
Unable to move I stare.
His skin has gone cold, sobs are heard as if from a distance.
Darker the room becomes, even with the pircing hospital light,
I can't see.
Closing my eyes, haunted by the sight, my brother who I love is now gone.
Time moves on, nightmares still lurk in my dreams.
Death is nothing more than eternal slumber that everyone faces
Isolation in a crowd has become my blanket.
New friend are made, but connections are weak.
It is time to make a change.
The walls of fear are broken down only when I begin to talk
Acceptance, loss is a part of life.
Opening my heart to friends and family,
I slowly break the dread
I had lost more when I shut myself off
Only by building connections despite the inevitable
do I finally feel free.
Shackled by the fear of loss and loneliness,
was only freed by friends and family.
