Brother
In my darkest hour
My heroes cut from the dark
Their steely brotherhood
Scrapes my ragaved hands
I clamp my palms
Around their offering
But my fingers hardly twitch
I am leading a bloody scourge
Why?
They will tell you that my scorched throat
Could hardly vocalize
The rasp of fading breath
My God, those Spartan warriors
Carved faces
Splintered to help me to my knees
I couldn't even ring
My broken voice into
The taut air
And so we bled together
Into the dirt
Me and those gilded saviors
I was crushed with my
Brothers
And we retreaded gently
Kissing each other
In the face of the world
At our own victory
