Brownie Batter

I start the day with smiles and smoothies

I end the day with brownies and movies

They say that chocolate is a girl's best friend

and it's true, there's not much that it can't mend.

When the day has been long, when the day has been rough,

Laundry and dishes and cleaning stuff.

After this, what do I have to show?

It looks like my living room was in a tornado.

I can sit down with a bowl and a spoon

and it feels like I am the only one in the room.

When the children act up and I'm trying not to shout,

this is when I get the kitchen mixer out.

My husband is gone, he is serving abroad

a brave young Soldier is something to applaud.

However here I am alone with the kids

nobody ever thanks me for this.

I shouldn't complain, atleast I can say

that I had my fair share of brownies today.
