The Brownies
The Brownies.
Its time was coming …. again.
The change of atmosphere.
The fear grows.
Something is wrong.
Tension wakes it.
Screams and Pleading.
Its home is approached.
No mum, no mum!
Two huddled girls through a small boy’s eyes.
Soft and brown, coiled around knuckled fist, fingers white.
Glaring eyes, Drawn back lips.
Clenched teeth and spit.
The need is raw.
Fevered breathing, it strikes.
Rising and falling, again and again.
Two huddles girls through a small boy’s eyes.
Arms and flailing legs.
Sobbing tears.
It would stop, once sated.
To return to its home, for now.
Until the need called it.
Memories fresh, fear its gift.
To put things right, protect, make happy.
Two huddled girls through a small boy’s eyes.
