Bruises
Purple bruises
Red blood stains
The hole punched in the wall
More yelling
More pain
I begin to bawl
How did this
Become my life?
I look around this house
All it holds
Are empty promises
And an unforgiving spouse
But still I stayed
Through all the pain
Because I don’t know what to do
I took the blows
And the hurtful words
All because I loved you
But now I know
I can’t stay here
It’s not good for my health
I pack my bags
Don’t say goodbye
Because I love myself
