Bruises Just Don't go Away

Why is that my heart feels battered? You haven't had a chance to run it over And yet, I don't know If I have the strength To matter more To smile more To hold your hand. When I think about the future Too many roads lay in front of me Too many possibilities of heart break I'm not yet ready to die again. When I think about the past Too many things said Too many mistakes to look upon I'm not yet ready to be brought back to life. The days passed me by, The moments catch me off guard, It's not fair that my heart doesn't know what to do. So maybe I'll just sit for a bit And rest a while Until I'm ready to breathe again.
