i haven’t cared in what’s known to me as a month

a collection of days

with the contribution of hours

the steady flow of minutes

interrupted by the ticking of seconds…

portrayed as a menagerie

eyes filled with something other than the dull craze associated with beasts

hoofbeats battering the sunset

with the echoing chasm of defeat

in my ears

the pounding of blood the only thing

accompanying me

trees shade my eyes from things I can’t understand

and prevent my thoughts from edging over cliffs and mountains I cannot begin to climb…

the gray clouds of today clashing with the hazy fog of tomorrow

the hissing of rain as it pours out of the sky

loud thunder resounding, the words last spoken by those that don’t matter

with which comes the trembling of hands

and the angry souls

screaming mutely for equality

quickly silenced by the dark smoke of the factories

churning away at the command of those who need something to die for
