Buckcherry
I think about you day and night
My soul it aches til morning light
I miss those times back so new
When I was right next to you
Each day that passes still I wait
To be with you again soul mate
Here’s our story, don’t you know?
I’ve not forgotten, so here we go…
It was hot that July night
I felt my sweat begin to bite
The music boomed and I felt lost
All the faces blurry gloss
I climbed a wall to better see
All the crazies around me
Everyone had drink in hand
Including mine from Echo’s friend
Clearly this was not the opera
I slouched and sipped cranberry vodka
Who knew then that moments near
My life would change to crystal clear?
Echo called my name out loud
I turned and saw you in the crowd
Our eyes they locked and then I bowed
I shook your hand and felt a shroud
Who is this guy, I hardly know?
I’m not dressed right for this show
I am shy I can’t say why
But then I felt something come alive
My broken heart beat again
When your eyes met mine, my friend
It felt warm and soft and more
A feeling at my very core
How could I have felt this way?
I didn’t know you before this day
I turned back to watch the show
But deep inside I felt a glow
Once the band sang their last
We all turned to move quite fast
Find AC to cool my brain
Maybe help these feelings wane
You rushed ahead to hold the door
My jaw it dropped right to the floor
No one does that nowadays
Perhaps it is a holiday?
Later you did that again
I thought gone were all those men
“Sweet” I thought as I strolled by
Your eyes were staring open wide
He must always stare that way,
For I’m no one that gets that gaze
Perhaps it’s Echo’s friend, that’s it!
She is pretty, and much more fit
Walking slowly, but not too far
We found seats up at the bar
Echo sat to the right of me
And you sat left quite eagerly
I thought “Well I guess we should chat,
For what harm is there in that?”
We talked of work and school and more
I thought “Gee, he’s not a snore”
Then Echo needed smokes
So you offered a ride for folks
Echo jumped in the back seat
I took shotgun, what a treat!
Next to you it felt quite nice
But still I should not roll dice
For you were cute and I was new
At flirting with a man like you
As you drove we got stuck
Cops showed up, and you yelled, “FUCK”
At first I thought this was a joke
But then I saw them through the smoke
You rolled down your window slow
And said “I better not get a tow”
“How many drinks did you have, Sir”
“Only two, I have no slur”
“Carry on, and please drive safe”
So on you sped from this bad place
“That was NUTS” I said to you
You just said what you had to
Finally we found the place
We parked and Echo ran the race
I sat with you brief moments there
Wishing time would move nowhere
You made small talk that made me smile
A feeling not felt in quite a while
How on earth have I lived this long
Not knowing him, so nice and strong?
I felt impressed by your stories told
You seemed real and not cold
I liked your accent, that was hot
“Just keep talking” was all I thought
Echo returned to us once more
And back we drove to our spot before
We laughed and talked until two
I had so much fun with you
We left the bar and parted ways
I said goodbye and simply gazed
I regret the hug I did not give
A moment I wish I could relive
My life was changed that night with you
A moment in time I run to
When I am sad I recall this night
And I feel at peace, it will all be alright
I hope I will see you soon
Whether night or afternoon
In my heart I will always carry
That night with you watching Buckcherry
