Budapest

Stumbling to the bus

Tossing what little I have

Into the bottom.

Sitting at the gate

Nervously bouncing my leg

almost boarding time.

Panicked, I search around

The crowd foreign to my mind

Fish in the sea, me.

Dark envelops me

Sleep wants to wrap around me

I keep my arms in.

Dreamscape soon gets in

A thick array of thoughts and doubts

Close in as I sleep.

The boy I once was

Sitting on the floor, playing

Enjoys his parents.

Hearing sound behind

He turns slowly, seeing a man

The man is downcast.

Staring absently

The man raising a thick blade

Aimed at the parents.

Shocked, in one second

The boy learns his killers face

And sees himself aged.

He acting swiftly

The man walks from the bodies

Blood coating the knife.

The boy asks a why

The man exhales raggedly

“The only way we live.”

Rumbling of the plane

Yanks me from out of my dream

Budapest is here.
