Building Me

Scarlet, with a hint of honey,

Luscious, her hair, as sweet as roses.

Her smile, like diamonds, her eyes, endless, seamless

Flawless, time freezes as she passes by

Wait- what did she say?

But it’s too late, the clock keeps ticking

And perfection fades away

But I love her!

She didn’t feel the same way.

Look at his dreamy eyes, his charming laugh…

When will he notice I’m not laughing back?

My time, my loyalty, all wasted.

My dreams? My aspirations?

NO.

HIS dreams. HIS aspirations.

I’m merely a puppet on a string

Only brought out when he needs something

But I love him, I swear I do.

After all, what would I be without him, too?

Motivation, compassion, support.

I know I’m needed, and this isn’t just a sport

He’ll sprint the extra mile, just to make me smile.

OUR dreams, OUR aspirations.

Laugh together, love together.

Life with him is so much better.

I love him, I’m sure I do.

This time I know he loves me, too.
