Built from Bunnies

Built from Bunnies

Beneath the cyberkinetic wind of speech,

bulbous souls roll through cellular goo.

The verve of my unfurled soul bounding

its embryo. This microscopic globe

possessed by coiled propulsion pistons.

Unwilling to even chip its multipotence,

ballooning peninsulas press a fine skin,

but the unmolded embryo soaks them

back in before they break off –

an octopus of lava lamp substance.

This continuity is distance’s veneer;

Closer in, the pixels of pandemonium

clarifying into rushing bunnies – ether bunnies!

The last of them are shuddering upward

from a fizzling flask. They nudge puffed faces

into the spotlight, out of the opaque safety,

the equilibrium of diffusion in the flask.

Who gave them wings to play with?

Now they try to bend wild waters

over rock, and dodge rubble

as it constructs colossus.

One bunny, squirming, imagines

magic tickling him! He contorts,

distorts his body into workable dough,

and flours others with magnetic inspiration

so they group into a reverberating spring.

These engineers steered my fingers

to prod those volatile ravioli alive,

which, meeting the hyper mischief of boiling water,

burst into entropy.

Fidelity is the siphon of discipline;

Fervor and hunger muster the pressure

that stretch a bunny into a rabbit –

the starch that firms their ears

when I press them upright to listen.

My proudest regiment lines the cliff

of my lower eyelid

and at the whistle of curiosity

dive and glide into arcs and lines.

When they resolve and rest,

their photograph dries on my memory,

and then they shape-shift again.

I orchestrate this fuzzy cyclone,

this closed circular generator

whose largest expense

is the charge to keep spinning.

To keep spinning those animated noses

and ticklish ears so they can

sniff the salt and the soul into motion

and then gently shake them away.

It is a tropical breeze of fur,

most round and gallant

when it can play and curve with another,

to fold together then sprinkle apart again.

My chest and my blood

long for me to invite.

But first the bunnies must be tranquil.

Their energy is young energy,

and their wisdom is young wisdom.

They will not embellish a foyer

until the home behind it is furnished.
