Built for Failure

Poetry held me through dark times

Within its powerful loving lines,

Givng no room for uncertainty.

My parents, they lived in uniformity

They told me who and what to be, but

When they were gone I was in a rut

Not knowing what to say or who

To show the world. What did I do?

The world thought that I was really strong

Truth be told I was alone and didn't belong.

I got up from the ashes of my life

I came out alive regardless of my strife.

I'm going to college, to prove doubt wrong

I got out of the rut singing my song.

"From strife, struggles, and sting, my God,

keep moving along."
