Bulletproof punk

I watch helplessly as my generation is falling prey to mediocrity

Breeding their spawn into drug-filled, booze-soaked, fatherless lives

I witness the potential of a vast number of could-be's, would-be's, and should-be's taper off on the threshold of a meaningful existence

The brightest minds utilized to create weapons, to further an agenda of hatred and hostility

I oft find myself mortified of what the future may hold, if not for us or our offspring but eventually the horrors that will come to pass

We can blame people with different borders from us, we can detest those who dare differentiate themselves from the pack, the outcast, the black sheep;

We can be afraid of aliens and vampires; boogie men and courtiers of death; we can fear the skeletons in our closets and the demons under our beds and the nightmares that skim the line between shadow and moonlight; but in the end we all should be afraid of ourselves

Because we are men.
And we are monsters.

Though we swear we're not
We make play that we are angels
Lucifer himself was also an angel; and look how far he hath fallen from grace

So, too, do each of us: just by being man are we doomed to burn and pillage everything held dear to anyone, even ourselves

Nothing in this land of the holiest of sins and the godlessness of the followers of the fictitious anomaly invented to make their crimes justified is safe from the despair that spews forth from us in droves

If you're not exactly like them; you're against them
You're an enemy; a black sheep
A rebel; an outcast
They are afraid
And god dammit they should be

They try to quell us with reality TV
And questionable medication that they have convinced us to put into our own bodies; giving us the illusion of choice and freedom and that, my dear friends, is what this struggle is all about, what this revolution that needs to be realized will use as a calling card

Not the ability to say we are free, with guns pointed to our heads all the while, but instead the audacity to point the guns back and claim that WE ARE FREE

nothing based on a piece of paper that gets so wrongfully ignored way too frequently but based on the idea, that we are truly free in a way that promotes individualism and a dire need to be abnormal, and that love will conquer everything that we can not, for this idea will live on, even when we can not

And yes, friends, they can kill us. But they can't kill an idea...ideas are bulletproof.
