Bulrush

Utter abhorrence for this race,

Sanity screams for a safer place.

In a standstill, life passing by,

Submerged into reality; down from my high.

It is for me you have come,

Inexhaustible love that will take me home.

Familial promises to never let them down,

Candle flickering; time to leave this town.

How quickly will you run away?

Breaking down my pride, in need of you to stay.

Grasping my fist, releasing my fingers’ curls;

I learned to accept this race; boys and girls.
