The Burden
I am terrified for the day ahead, What once was beaut'ful is now so violent, But dreams of a beauty make new my bed, And hours between the day are silent. I am terrified for the day that nears, Demons are pulling with gleaming back rope. I am terrified for the solemn night, That which has brought me peace is now a doom, Lurking in the darkest gloom is my blight, Come forth! Through conquering let a flower bloom! You there to be my impervious vest, There, a future, of a heaven blest.
