Buried Alive

I’ve buried my heart

to die alive

I wish

I was hyped

for tomorrow to come

but I’m

frozen, numb inside

burning in the light

the warmth of their smiles

no

I know it’s not

nobody’s fault but mine

alone

my eyes have dimmed

the eraser’s lost

its once sharp edge

I pretend

that’s how it’s always been

since I’ve buried my heart

and forgotten how to live.
