A Burning Dream

The smoke swirls higher and higher

The fumes trying to suffocate me

The tears stream endlessly

The intense heat of the fire

Memories flash in orange and blue

Memories of years of stress

Memories I've tried so hard to forget

Memories painfully fplay in that firey hue

I want to be free from the past

I want the burning to end

I want to escape this death

I want to give up but at last

A cool hand reaches into the flames

I am pulled from the torture

Burnt and crippled, I lay lame

Finally rescued from the horror

But I am saved

From the flames of a burning dream.
