Burning Ice
Once Upon A Time,
A woman dripped with ice,
from her white yellow hair
to the diamonds on her manicured hands
to her frigid heart
built a wall around her from
the inside
out.
This enchanting queen ruled over the most fortuitous law firm in all the land.
All the young interns wanted to be her,
And all the other kingdoms wanted to end her reign.
The beautiful empress kept her buzzing employees
in line,
in check,
but prosperous.
All that responsibility,
All that money,
But not anything tangible.
To rule her kingdom she had to make sacrifices,
Her husband to his secretary;
Her parents to death.
No kids were built in this frosty tower of a life.
The dazzling ruler was all alone
So it was decided.
She was to be only hated,
From the inside
Out.
One day a young man stumbled into her office,
Wanting to learn the art of winning the case
From only the very best.
Blazing red hair,
A fervent personality,
A real save the world type,
Though did he didn't really know the world he wanted to save.
His name was Kai.
From the very beginning her majesty was
Cool,
Detached,
Professional.
But ice is no match for fire.
The frozen leader melted into his inviting arms.
Their kindled fame conceived into a wildfire,
Igniting the attention of everyone around them.
They whispered and judged how young he was compared to her,
The accusations he was only there for her
Fame,
Fortune,
Her “fading looks”.
But she was
Supportive,
Lighthearted,
Warm to him.
For in his eyes, there was a mirror that lives in all of us, that turned everything ugly into something beautiful,
and everything beautiful into something ugly,
Derived from the betrayal of his childhood love, Gerda.
Despite it the new couple was happy go-lucky in love.
Until, the spring breeze blew in and with it, Gerda.
She barged into the queens office and threw herself at Kai,
Sputtering tales of how sorry she was that she cheated,
How hard it was to find him in this big city,
How she followed the tales of his old roommates, family and friends,
How she went through trials, tribulations, and crossed an ocean to find him.
Complete and utter silence ensued.
The Snow Queen stood stock still,
because what could she do as Gerda kissed Kai passionately.
“Please come home!”, she exclaimed between kisses.
When they pulled away Kai blinked,
His eyes seemed to squint and fracture,
For his illusion was shattered,
How could he turn away his first love after all they’ve been though?
How could he turn away the fan to his flame?, he thought.
He wondered if he changed his story..
Could he still save himself?
Kai let Gerda lead him by the hand;
Away from the Queen with a weak and dazed
“I’m sorry.”
So,
The snow queen dropped into her chair as a tear slid down her cheek.
She was all alone, again.
The End.
What?
Were you expecting something different?
Don't you know?
The “villains” never win.
