Burning Towers

One day, back in September of ‘01

Just after the rise of the morning sun

The wind was calm, the skies were clear

The sounds of the day were all you could hear

It happened so fast

But it didn’t last

And it seems to be buried in our memories of the past

When that first plane struck

Many people were stuck

And most were running out of luck

I remember hearing the news on my third week of school

I remember seeing the tears running in a pool

As the second tower burst in a fiery flame

Sooner than later, this was no game

All of the bloodshed and angry pain

All of the dead heroes lost in vain

If we remember that day

If we forget it today

We will leave our future to pay

When those burning towers fall again

Who will remember it then?
