Burnt
I think I'd be terrified, if I ever found it
If I ever found love like I imagine
I think I'd be terrified of being wrong, of saying it's love
And tasting the lie
I've done it before, almost every time
What truly terrifies me about love,
Is the chance that I could find it and mistake it for a fake
I could taste the true dish and never know it for what it was
Like a child I could touch the lit match
And drop it in shock of the heat
But love should ignite, I think
It should scorch your insides until you are filled with glowing embers;
Sparks of light
Or until you are turned to ashes and smoke
And ruined beyond repair
Just trying in vain to hold your pieces together,
To shield yourself from the wind of everyday life
That begs you to move along
I think in true love it is like this,
You can't walk away from it unburnt
No middle ground exists for true love,
You ignite or you are ruined
