Bursts of Poetry

To understand how poetry came to me you must understand what poetry is;

Poetry is not just a way of writing, it is a way of life and thinking

Poetry came to me in small bursts starting with beauty;

No longer do I see a leaf tumbling in the wind,

I see the cares of a dying tree dancing freely about.

No longer do I see the waves of an ocean,

I see the breaths of the world going in and out.

Second, poetry came to me in understanding;

understanding that you don't smile just because your happy,

You smile because you once knew sadness.

Understanding that life is like a roller coaster,

without the ups and the downs it is pointless.

Finally, poetry came to me in wisdom;

Wisdom in knowing that you may not win,

but you certainly will learn.

Wisdom in knowing that the only thing that you deserve,

is what you managed to earn.

Poety has effected me more than any word, poem, or novel can say.

Poetry is in every route I take.

It is in every move I make.

It's in every claim I stake

Poetry is more than just writing,

but when I write I feel all my cares leave my pen.

When I write I  feel all my truths spreading.

When I write I know that there is a purpose.

Poetry came to me in small bursts

and these bursts of beauty, undertanding, and wisdom

have given me a reason to care.

Poetry came to me in small burst
