But I Can’t

I think I love you But I’ll never hold you in my arms Instead, I’ll use my words I’ll lift you above me I’ll sing all I love about you I’ll learn the voice of your heart To find words grand enough to say I’m almost sure I love you But I’ll never press my lips to yours Instead, I’ll press them to your ears I’ll tell you everything I’ll carve out the secrets buried in my heart I’ll reach into the core of my soul And pull out a piece especially for you I love you But I can’t let you go Instead, I’ll hold us together I’ll keep you in my eyes I’ll seclude us on the plain of my mind I’ll sew our hearts together With the string that tied our pinkies Maybe I love you too much So I’m sorry Because I’ll never love you Like you want me to Because I love you I won’t stand at the altar with you I’ll never utter false vows I’ll never call you anything other than my companion I’ll call you my soulmate, my perfect equal, and anything in between But never a spouse.
