Butter
My perfume melts into your mind, is it a bad time?
A bad time for us, I can read your eyes.
I know it goes both ways, please behave.
Your shoulder drops against the new weight, be thankful
accept my gift, its not an offer
Now isn’t the time to be dis-tasteful
Its style, it’s you, you love it, it’s new.
There isn’t a whole lot to attach to
Don’t be like that, there’s no reason to lie,
reach inside your mind, what do you see?
Green stitching, foil reflecting off the water,
That’s it, go deeper.
I see an indoor fire, and a new leaf against the glass
Perhaps I’m thinking too much.
He reminds me of butter, I am malleable
Against his press, against his breath,
a new sensation of infatuation,
Where you the subject of her prediction?
A strong feeling, a one sided love like no other,
Completely platonic, just as I desired.
Five cards being spread against a cloth,
When I ask myself if you where that love.
Does it mean its forever doomed, forever unspoken,
Never pursued?
Thank god, I never wanted that anyway,
dancing in your mind is where I hoped to reside,
After exploring my venerability, I let you inside,
But I never wanted that anyway.
For you where the knife, with no idea,
just an amount of metal, undermining your weight
Carving into my dish, with no complaint
No hesitation, no date.
Was I not more than you could ever desire,
is it you, was it me?
Her face enters the middle line, do not doubt yourself,
For these questions will be left with no more thought.
This love is unrequited.
I wondered why butter resonated on my tongue,
The feeling it left stirred an uncertain tide
But it is you, you are the golden goodness in control those waves,
Waves of sadness, waves of uncertainty.
How could something that soft and adaptable,
Be completely unpredictable.
I longed for your gaze, just a moments worth,
With that I can reminisce and obsess over.
Instead I’m left with unfamiliar sheets and the rise of a hangover
Never to be admired through your sober eyes, only ones poisoned, time for left overs.
On second thought perhaps there is a few things I can attach you to,
But my pride is more powerful than my longing for you,
So instead ill keep those thoughts enclosed, sealed
Never to be discussed nor opened.
Despite how hard I long to attach a stamp,
And send it into your heart, hoping for an identical reply.
Forever on my mind, one sided lover,
For now I say goodbye.
