Butterfly

My Tiger Lily

Is the perfect thing

Beautiful petals
Like a sunset
Leaves strong and supple
Standing stubbornly in place
Roots curling into the ground
Churning earth and shaking rocks

My Tiger Lily
Cannot see how gorgeous she is
With her face toward the sun
She just sees all she isn't

While I see what she is
Beautiful
Strong
Independent
Reliable

And she's mine

Though all she sees me as
Is a little butterfly
