Butterfly

When I began, I was a caterpillar

I stuffed myself with knowledge,

Learned everything I could about the world,

An eight year old reading books about the titanic and how

a mummy's brian was pulled through its nose before burial.

Now, I am nothing.

A mix of ideas and beliefs trapped inside a silky cacoon

I destroy myself, and everything I think I know

Shifting and changing I rebuild myself

Only to dissolve once again

I leave only my mind intact

In the future, I hope

I will learn to like one of the forms I create

And escape this cacoon

I hope

I will learn to spread my wings

And show my beauty to the world.
