Butterfly
In my world, Poetry is a catepillar.
A tiny catapillar that has not morphed into a butterfly.
Poetry has been my safe haven; comforting me with my problems; gradually helping me to grow.
Giving me a place to go at times where it felt like the ending of life was approaching.
Middle to High School, I was happy on the outside, and kept everyone laughing.
But deep down inside, there was an empty whole in my soul; I was incomplete.
Depression clouds hovered over my days and nights.
Friendships failing; Finances become low.
Family issues at home; struggling to keep grades up at school.
Happiness disappeared for months.
Until the discovery of a slam poetry video on Facebook; that was my calling into poetry.
A sparkly pink notebook that collected dust for 3 years in my room became my takeoff for poetry.
I escaped; writing away all my problems into verses.
Day by day, problems were lifted off my shoulders.
Slowly becoming happier as I wrote my issues away
It was my literary therapist.
Connections with poetry helped to intoduce the beauty of it to others.
Influencing many to explore their creativy through writing.
Poetry changed my life, and morphed me into a beutiful butterfly.
