To a butterfly
“I think we need to talk... about, us”
Are words you never want to hear
And yet you do
Those words hold so much power, and so much pain
“Are you going to break up with me”
“No, well, I’m not sure, well, Maybe, well....I’m sorry”
I poured everything I had into my heart so I could love you the way I felt you deserved,
which is why when you ripped it out of my chest I was an empty shell of a human being.
Like a hermit crab torn from its home.
You made me feel at home.
Your touch was the first thing to ever make me feel like...
Well, to make me feel
Your lips painted beautiful prices of art with every song lyric that feel from them
“Hello, I love you”
“She’s a peach scone”
“I’m yours and that’s it, forever"
I cocooned myself in your false promises and rising harmonys, hibernating in your warmth during the cold winter nights.
So when you ripped away everything you had built around me, I was terrified, lonely, and vulnerable
It wasn't until I had the strength to get back up and try that I realized, now I could fly
