Butterfly vs the Moth

Butterfly Vs the Moth

They both fly and have wings. What is the difference?
The butterfly is more accepted my our society. The butterfly represents beauty, love, innocence, and grace. Once an average person gazes at a butterfly, there is peace in their heart and happiness.
However, there is not much luck for the common moth. He is not beautiful, but instead an ugly brown or gray. He is a nocturnal demon that's addicted to porch lights and is a main target for roll up newspapers and fly swatters. People do not see joy in the appearance of a moth, but rather disgust, fear, and hatred.
So why do we fear a moth, but not a butterfly?
We're more likely to see butterflies in the breath of the sun, while moths in the shimmer of the moon. The bright colors of the butterfly is actual a warning sign to other animals to show it's poisoness. If you eat me, you will get sick or die. With moths, animals love to eat them. They're safe to eat, however that's not very lucky for the moth. The butterfly is the popular creature who has no worries other than being caught for a collection, and even thought that those who kill a butterfly are looked down upon and shunned. The moth is a victim in the animal and human community that's constantly threatened and harmed, and if the moth is killed, the killer is praised. What a life to live.
