At Byne's

I see you white little butterfly

Happy is how you make me feel

What peace you bring when you flutter by

Prayer will bring what's necessary to heal

Love is not lost, yet one needs time to cry

I see you little white butterfly

Happy is how you make me feel

Keeping faith and hope we shall continue to try

Please stay here little white butterfly

Now I see you are our shield

I see you white little butterfly

And happy is how you make me feel

I wrote this poem about a month ago, while my grandmother (Byne) was passing away. My family and I took turns taking care of Byne. I hoped she would recover from her long endurement of bieng in and out of the hospital, but it didnt happen. Reality set in and it became so much harder for my cousin and I to take care of her and administer her medications, breathing treatments, etc. We knew but we had to stay strong for Byne. I wrote this poem because my grandma kept mentioning things about white butterfly's and I just used it as a way to cope. Writing this poem got me through that day and still to this day. I believe it will for the rest of my life. My Byne deserves nothing but a place like paradise. I know she is enjoying it. I see little white butterflys every day, and they always make me smile. --Briana
