Caged Bird

I feel like a caged bird Broken wings, a broken heart, a healthy hate No smiles, all cries, everyone says hi, but no one sees i need the skies Am in a dark cage, beautifully made What i want is the world, big, bright world, darkened by beautifully made dark minds How some days i just feel caged, by the past and mistakes, the present and its madness, the future and its uncertainty No time seems right to be in and so it follows that the doors to the cage stand ajar yet my feet refuse to usher me out And yet still i don't like the cage and this sense of confinement Let me be restrained by the grandness of the universe and not the solitude of my mind Let me soar on solo, free from fear and tears Than to be quite a duo with insecurity, that will lead to plain insanity I need now clarity and maybe providence Else i might just fall into unconditional subservience To an inferno of blazing regret and fiery anger Anger at a world that has done nothing but wait patiently for me to leave my cage, Regretting why no one visited the cottage of my heart because i built it on nothing else but the sinking sands of misery, fear and insecurity I want to fly, i need to I am tired of hate and unyielding fate No more capes, let the world see my imperfections and paint its own picture, because it takes infinity to find perfection that would last for eternity This is my song, the song of a caged bird Because i am a caged bird.
