Caged Bird

O caged bird with feathers clipped Thou sitting in the cage in lawn O sing the song of mirth and Glee Oh sing thou sing, look! It is dawn The night has gone, it's tender morn With dewy gem are laden blooms Oh silent bird, why does thou mourn? As thou perching in midst of gloom? The daisies bloom the cuckoo sings And wind plays on the harp in Glee Daisies gaze from bed of grass And scented roses dance so free Look caged bird look at the trees That standing in the midst of green O may that thou can float on wind O may that thou can see that scene These bars are the signals of the death They in thy flight which intervene O bird I'll speak for thy sake So that the world can let thee free O that thou roam in dales on lake O so that sing in mirth and Glee I don't know in whose house art thou Am watching thou from my house top But I'll come to let thee free So thou can fly and drink and hop All world of nature for thee sobs The rivulets sing with sorrow sheen The larks and robins , cuckoos all With thee may sing in greenish green O world ! O people harken all This earth is not for only thee It is the earth of Nature birds O let thou caged birds all free So they can sing the hymns in Glee So they can perch on mountain pine O that they float in breezes free O that they drink the nature's wine
